Stage photography can be challenging because light levels are sometimes low and the action fast. Actor’s expressions can be fleeting, and catching them is crucial. The concentration required over the length of a performance can be grueling, but Lee believes the opportunities far outweigh the challenges. For him, to capture the work of talented artists at just the right moment is thrilling. None of Lee’s photographs are posed. They are all live-action shots taken during dress rehearsals. It is the only way to capture the feeling and immediacy of the actors “living” their parts, which you will see when you view any of Lee’s work.
