I'd also like to sell my Canon G9.  If anyone's interested, please send me an email.  Asking $350.

Nick - so what do you think of the Canon compared to your E-3?

Well I only rented one over Memorial Day weekend. The one I purchased, I bought used and only just got some glass. There are things about both cameras I like, but 3 things I like with Canon are longer, faster lenses, more affordable lenses. Now I am not trying to start a lens argument here. The 3 things I miss are IS with every lens and weather sealing ( I posted the pic back when I was at Niagara Falls where everything was drenched), and the tilt screen. As far as build quality, ergonomics and button layout, they are both remarkably similar. I would give E3 edge on the first 2, the third is just a matter of getting used to.

I'll let you know more as I use it.

You echo my thoughts about Olympus...my major complaint is the cost of the quality lenses.  I have seen a trend on the secondary market for the cost of the lenses dropping.  Plus Olympus is starting to offer some bigger rebates....maybe they are getting the message about this being a tough economy.

I'm loving my Olympus E30 (thanks for letting me hold yours, Judy, LOL!).  It's fast, light, and the buttons are in the right places.  Now, I need a 1.4 teleconverter so I can shoot the damn hummingbirds!

Just picked up a Sigma 18-200 DC OS for my Canon. This might be my new walkaround lens.

Now, I have a chance to pick up a used Canon 30D in excellent condition for $350. And, just when I thought I was done buying equipment, I'm thinking this might be a nice addition to my XTi, and I have a nice complement of lenses for both.

Pros? Cons?

Looks like excellent and comprehensive information about using Canon equipment. Includes a section where you can check compatibility btween camera body, lenses and flash units, in great detail. The info on flash is really extensive.

Jeff, Did you end up picking up the 30D.  I have had mine for 3 years and have been very happy with it.  Only negative is that it does not have the "anti-dust" feature.

Thanks Karl, yes I did. I'm still learning to use the XTi and my lenses, as I'm off to Scotland to shoot a wedding and I want to be somewhat proficient. It will be easier to lug around than the 30D. When I get back, I'll open up the 30D and give it a spin. I'm sure I'll find uses for both. At the moment I'm seeing no reason to ever get anything else. But then, that kind of talk has been used before.
