Scott and Judy, get and E-3.
Don't wait for the bridge camera.
I have a feeling that the next camera may actually be a notch above the E-3 in price, etc.
There isn't much difference from the 500 series to the E-3 except for better iso, body construction, tilt lcd, etc.
Maybe they think the E500 series is finished and now will keep the 400 series on the low end and maybe introduce a 700 series or something.

I'm really surprised that Olympus isn't trying harder to get into the high end market to compete with the Canon 1DMIII, Canon 1DsMIII and Nikon D3 cameras. But, in a way I can understand it because typically the consumer and prosumer lines pay for the pro lines because of higher sales volumes.

I think it will hurt E-3 sales more than it will E500 series sales.
They could have dropped the price of the E-3 and came up with a camera in the 2200 range.

More Info

I suspect you are going to see a freshening of the E-3.  And for the record, the E-3 sales have been very strong which is why I suspect you are going to see an E-3 refresh in the spring.

Scott,
For what you do, I still think the E-3 is the way to go.

Yeah, but think what an E-5 might do.     ;)
