The E-3 only looks bigger and better because of the Grip. You have to buy that extra and can get one for the Sony A700 also...

The Sony is a 12mp vs the 10mp of the Olympus.
The Sony is $300.00 cheaper
The Sony Resolution is higher
The Sony sensor is bigger
The Sony ISO Range is higher
The Sony has 5fps/3fps compared to the Olympus 5fps/limited to size of picture
The Sony has a larger LCD (3")
The Sony's LCD pixel is 920,000 compared to Olympus 230,000...

I WIN

You sound like those Canon and Nikon sheeple who buy their camera's by the number of specs.   "The Sony "HAS" to be better!!   It has .00000000000000000000025 more megapixels!!   So what if I shoot in "auto" mode.. it has more Megapixels!!"    :D

4/3rds For the Win.

I won't even compare the glass available... it will be very embarrassing for anyone who thinks Sony's glass lineup can compare to the quality of Zuiko glass.   Now.. you want to talk about weather proofing and dust?   ;)

You gotta do better than that Ric!    :-*

Gee, I follow "him" very close and maybe if he bought you one then I would too. That way you would have 2... 1 for the Rain and one for the Sun....

In all seriousness, is the a700 weathersealed?
E-3 has the rotating lcd, which if you have live view, whats the point in not having it?
I don't like some of the button locations on the E-3...

E-3 has a slower shutter (which is good)
What gets me is that each company has a proprietary format (xD and Memory Stick) that they won't let go of...
I think either camera is money well spent.

Yammer, well said! However, do you think that will stop these two? Quoting our President, "No freakin way!" :-)

From what I've read, the A700 is more 'weather resistant' than 'weather proof'.   It is a bit more resistant to moisture and dust than a typical dSLR - but not on part with what Olympus does with it's pro cameras.

Someone posted on dpreview how the E-3 got water in its LCD....Its only as weatherproof as its weakest link.
Dust system though puts Oly on top of the Sony....

Actually I read that thread and most people came to conclude that was a 'rare' instance more than the norm.  It looked like, from the pictures, there was an existing gap around the edge of his LCD that others don't have and that is why the moisture got in there.   You'll always have examples of a 'bad product' or a slightly flawed example of a product regardless of the brand or build quality.   I haven't checked the thread lately, but I believe he was sending it back to Oly for repair or replacement?

I don't know the outcome.....Wait the sony doesn't have live view?
The hot shoe is a non standard size?
Its raw files already have noise reduction to them? (Doesn't this contradict the purpose of raw files?)

As far as no live view, the new a350 has live view and a movable viewer...
Waterproof no, water resistant yes... Who in their right mind would go outside during a heavy rain and take a chance on ruining their camera? Drizzle yes...

Hotshoe not standard... They do make an adapter for any other flash that you may want to put on the camera. Some dedicated and some not.

You can turn the noise reduction off in the camera. I don't use it on camera.

Oly getting water in the LCD... Limited accident.... Happens to any item... There is always a bad something on any item that someone will bitch about and still there is only that one.... Please Scott... Do not let your head blow up too much for me defending the Olympus cameras, since I did buy my wife one...
