Spare batteries, how many
« on: February 11, 2008, 08:34:02 am »
How many of you shoot with spare batteries?
If so, how many?
I still only ever had the need for one, but now that I am getting some $$ I was thinking that spares are a good idea.

I saw the aftermarket grips...I want a dead grip just to look cool.

I went and ordered an extra battery...by olympus.  Don't trust aftermarket batteries.

I have one extra...and after market battery.  I'm an Oly user (E510) and the cheaper battery works just fine!

I have three batteries for each of my two DSLRs - unfortunatley, they take different batteries.  I always carry a spare in the camera case, and keep an extra one at home.  When we travel (vacation), I take all three batteries with me - just in case.  For my P&S, I only have two batteries since I don't use this camera as much.  While on the subject of batteries, I want to add that I use 4 AA batteries in my flash.  I have several Eveready batteries and some Panasonic rechargeables.  I must say that the Eveready rechargeables are "TERRIBLE".  They don't hold a charge when not used for a few weeks.  I've had serveral go completely dead.  Recently, I bought several Sanyo Enerloop batteries because the ratings indicate they should hold 85% of their charge for one year even of not used during that time.  I just thought I would mention this.

Even though online it says the stores have them locally, I can only find them bundled with a charger :(....I want them for my Fl-50.
Can't spend money on a battery pack....but if Ric can't swing for an E-3....(hint hint).

I'll save you the trouble Ric....

NO FREAKING WAY!!!

I have 4 Batteries for my 7D and 2 for my Sony A100. I also have 2 for my Dimage A200 and 56 Batteries for my Flash units. I normally go through all my batteries when I shoot Weddings so they are always charged and in my bag with extra chargers in my vehicle along with a 110 adapter with 4 outlets.

I want the eneloops now.  I don't recall what I have for my flash (FL-50), but they work just fine and hold the charge well.  But, that doesn't matter.  I still want the eneloops.

eneloops are at amazon.com and bhphoto.com

if we get enough people, I can place an order so we can all save on shipping...
just thought for discussion.

If they had 2700's then maybe but they would not last for me doing 900 pictures at a time. I see that they only have up to 2,000's right now.

900 shots?
What are you using 8gig cards too?

On another note, Ric, do you use a flash bracket?

I actually have a 16gb card and a 12gb card. I have 3 other 1gb cards for backups.
I do not use a Flash bracket but my Flash head turns and twists in so many directions that you really don't need it. I just bounce it off of anything I can... Would love to try a Flash bracket though, I have used them with my old 35mm cameras but not digital yet... Any thoughts on them?
