One from yesterday. C&C please
« on: May 01, 2008, 02:59:58 pm »
This is a three shot, hand held HDR taken at Brinker's Mill. The mill is located on 209B, about 1 mile west of the Siota exit off RT 33. All the water powered equipment has been restored and it is operational.

I curious to see how many can find the one thing wrong with this photo which I didn't spot until I got home.

I'm going to take a shot and say you did not wait for the person who is bending over with their backside facing you to move out of the picture?

I don't see anything wrong with it!!  I think it is lovely!!  Maybe the sky is a bit washed out but you could easily fix that.  I will have to check this place out.  I love all kinds of machinery and old stuff!!
Is there enough at this location for a Location Shoot?

You got it! Actually he stepped into the picture after I started the the three shot HDR sequence. I took me about three views of the photo before I saw him. He only shows in the last frame.

I'd say it would be a good location for a group shoot. I spent about 90 minutes there yesterday and didn't have a tripod so my interior shots were kind of limited. I was lucky to get in the building. A contractor was there, putting the finishing touches on the repair of last year's flood damage and he let us in. If you want to know more, here's their link:

There's also a colonial house that is restored right across the street that opens May 19th.

Chet... if you have Photoshop CS3, there is a way using the 'Tourist Remover' technique using statistics and smart objects to remove the person from your photo if you have multiple photos.

Chet - just curious, what software do you use for your HDRs?

I used Bracketeer. You can find out more about it here (BTW. PC users need not apply. It only runs on a MAC):

http://pangeasoft.net/pano/bracketeer/index.html

I then sharpened in CS3.

Re HDR, if you have lots of time, you can read this...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging

I've been wanting to try out HDR for some time now. There is some software available free, or free on a trial version. The results I've seen online are quite dramatic.

I haven't played with HDR much, but I do have Artizen HDR just in case.

Well.....  I'm glad Brian broke the ice!!  I have been wondering what HDR is and I haven't been reading any current photography magazines just lately so I have been in the dark!!  I will check out the link that Jeff posted and also take another look at Chet's photo.

Great shot Chet! I love it.

There is a Flickr site for HDR which talks about the different software available.
