Moonrise over Jackson Hole
« on: October 21, 2010, 02:35:48 pm »
This is one from our recent Yellowstone trip that I like, but feel there's something not quite right.  I think I know what it needs, but I'm curious to see what others think.

This is a tough one because the moon is so far up in the frame that it draws the eye away and competes with the tree and fence.  I think you are going to need to decide what the focal point you are looking for is and then crop.  just mHO.

I have to agree with Judy.  Actually, my eye was drawn to the tree first then the fence.

Nothing wrong with the angle or the total perspective...you simply need to get up earlier.  ::)

Brian,

I do think there is too much of the dark blue in the sky, but I don't like the moon way up in the corner in the cropped example. To me it looks like a mistake, and that the moon wasn't intended to be part of the picture.  I am not a Photoshop addict, but isn't there a way for you to move the moon so that it is closer to the tree so you could crop your picture.

Brian, I like the original.  Maybe a little more "pop" for the fence in the foreground?
