For this contest you must have a Flickr account.  Beginning accounts (up to 200 photos) are free.

(Note that there is no specified date for the photo to have been taken by so you could scan an old vacation photo if it is a National Historic Landmark.)

Here are the Rules as they were sent to me by Flickr Contact "National Register":

2010 NHL Photo Contest / Rules

If you agree to these rules, you can join the group
By joining this group and entering photos, members agree to abide by the rules of the 2010 NHL Photo Contest. Complete contest rules are available on the National Park Service NHL Photo Contest webpage.

Between Monday July19 and Friday September 10 (12midnight PACIFIC) add your photo to the pool and tag it "2010NHLPhotoContest " If you do not tag your photo 2010NHLPhotoContest, it will not be entered in the contest. The NPS is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected or incomplete entries or technical errors or difficulties.

Upload the highest resolution image possible. The entries may be used in various contexts and high resolution images produce the best results.

What rules do I need to follow?

1) The subject of all entries MUST be a designated National Historic Landmark (NHL). For a list of NHLs designated by the Secretary of the Interior, visit: www.nps.gov/history/nhl/designations/listsofNHLs.htm or visit the searchable database of NHLs

2) By adding your photo to the 2010 NHL Photo Contest Group pool and tagging it "2010NHLPHOTOCONTEST" you agree that the submission of an entry shall constitute the grant of a non-exclusive, royalty free license to the National Park Service to reproduce and utilize the photograph submitted for any governmental purpose, including but not limited to publication on the Internet and/or use as part of interpretive publications. Entrants further grant to the National Park Service the right of use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest. By entering, participants thereby release and hold harmless the United States of America, its employees and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the Contest or any prize won. Restrictions, conditions, and limitations apply.

3) Each participant may enter 1 (ONE) image per NHL and up to 10 (TEN) images total.

4) All photographs must be your own work and you must own the right to distribute the image.

5) Photos entered in the 2010 NHL Photo Contest may not have been entered in previous NHL Photo Contests.

6) Photos must be offered under a Creative Commons Attribute License. See www.flickr.com/creativecommons/http://www.flickr.com/crea... for more information. If you do not like these terms, you can also send permission statement through flickr mail or send an email to nhl_photo@nps.gov for alternative permission standards.

7) Entrants will not enter onto NHL sites that are not open to the public without permission from the property owner. If you are unsure whether a site is open to the public or not, please consult the list of National Historic Landmarks by state at www.nps.gov/nhl.

8) You must have the consent of those whose faces are visible in the image. If your photo is selected, you will be required to provide a release for each individual in the photograph.

9) By participating in this contest, you agree to the terms of these rules.

GOOD LUCK TO LVPC MEMBERS ENTERING!!
