When do we expect to get a price on the materials? If it's too pricey we may have to consider other places such as Michaels.

I got tired of waiting for the price for Tuesday.  I am so not a last minute person.  I went to Michaels today.  You can purchase a 16 x 20 foam core there for $5 a piece.  They will cut it while you wait.  Didn't ask about matts.

Lotus - I think the prints are to be mounted only - no matting per the below quote from the rules unless I'm reading it wrong.

Quote
Prints must be a minimum of 8 x 10″ and a maximum of 12 x15″. For uniformity purposes, prints must be mounted on 16″ x 20″ white matte or foam core. Overlay mattes, glass or plexiglass coverings and frames are not permitted.

Thank you, Alice. Mounting this way, how it could be used after competition? It probably will be too thick to use in a frame as a backing.

Members can go by Dick Blick today and get a 30% off and buy what you need and bring it to the event. They didn't make up packets for us. ::)

Is it premature to ask if this is the presentation format that will be used in future competitions? If that was the case, I'd want to be there tonight.

I sent the mounting competition rules to Dick Blick so they will be showing us how to mount for the competition. They will be giving 30% off coupons tonight at the event, so they will definitely be good for tomorrow.
@Jeff, I assume this will be how we will present for future competitions but don't hold me to it! You should ask Ralph.

Hi Everyone,

I went to the Photo Mounting Workshop, and I am glad I went.  The two ladies were very helpful, and I did learn some very useful information.  Anyone who has not mounted their pictures should look into using Letratac which came highly recommended and seems very easy to use. They demonstrated how to use it on a couple LVPC members photos.  They also gave everyone who attended a page of it so we could try it ourselves when we got home. They do not recommend Photo Mounting Spray.  You can go to Dick Blick's and purchase one large foam core board which can be cut into four 16 x 20 boards for about $4.00.  They are also giving us 30% off of our purchase so you can't beat that.

However, they could not answer one of my questions and nobody from the club that was there knew the answer either.  I want to know if I have to trim off my white borders because I would like to leave a border so I can mat my pictures after the competition.  Since the foam board is white does it matter?  The printed picture meets the requirements, but with the white border it might be over the 15" maximum.  If I am allowed to leave a white border, will it have an impact on how the pictures are judged?   I have never entered one of these competitions so inquiring minds want to know ASAP.   ???

Thanks,
Rhonda

Attached is a printable copy of the coupon the folks from Dick Blick were handing out at the event.  It's good until June.
