www.stonehedge.org    ****NEW  INFO--MEET THERE AT NOON****

****Newest info as of 10 pm Sat. night****  The gardens actually open at dawn, and the buildings open at noon.  There was quite a misunderstanding.  Some members will be there at 9 am and others will be there a bit later.  Get there when you can and someone else from the club will probably be there.******

Easy directions from LV---Take US 22 to PA 309 North.  Follow up over the mountain.  When you see Leiby's Restaurant (now closed), turn right onto Dairy Road.

Large cultivated garden in Tamaqua with a focus on arts and holistic well-being, including a water garden, perennial, hosta, and culinary herb gardens.

They are open Dawn to Dusk and it is FREE!!  Lets hope for some awesome weather!

Check out their website above and look at all the photos.

*****Just noticed it now says NOON TILL DUSK************

I guess that changes our plans for a morning shoot.  We will be meeting at NOON in the parking lot at Stonehedge.  Look for my car--I have a turquoise Jeep Cherokee.

See you there!!!!

If the weather is cooperative, we should try to get there as early as possible!!  I am excited!!  I've never been there, although I have passed by it many times.

I think you should give a set time because it will take me a little over an hour to get there.

Meet in the parking lot there at 7, 8 or 9 am?  Are there any good spots there for a sunrise shot?  I've never been there.
Too bad Leiby's Restaurant isn't open anymore!!!

I was there some time ago for an afternoon wedding so not sure about the layout for sunrises. Has someone called to let them know we are coming? They could tell us about sunrise there............or any other tidbits.....

I vote for meeting at 9 am.  Of course, if my camera doesn't come back from Dan's before then, my vote becomes irrelevant.  I really can't get into serious shooting with my little Coolpix, it just doesn't feel right at all. :(

Kimmy, you can do serious shooting with a cell phone camera if you have to.  Just concentrate on composition and work within the limits of the camera and any camera will take good photos.  A lot of my older digital work was done with a Nikon CoolPix camera.

I see from the website that hours are noon to dusk.  Did we get special permission to be there early?

Well that solves that... :D

Actually that must be a recent change. When I looked before it had sunrise to dusk.........

Kimmy, Sue is right.

I'm only using a DSLR for the past year or so. Before that I had a P&S's for years. Many of my earlier photos on here and flicker were taken with a Samsung 3 or 5 mp digital, including the dahlia that is the opening on my photography website. Don't let your camera keep you away. :D

Yes---it said Sunrise to Dusk when I looked at it the other week to check for an opening time and NOW IT SAYS NOON TILL DUSK.

I guess we will meet at Noon in the parking lot there.  Not the best time for landscape and floral photography but there will probably be some passing clouds or overcast times.  As photographers we have to work with what we've got so we can deal with it!!  I think I will be bringing some white foam board to try some flowers with white backgrounds.  I really like the ones TJ made recently.

Well...I can't believe they changed the time at the park.   >:(

That totally warps my whole plan.  I will not be able to make it - I was planning on making it a morning trip with my family, since we have afternoon plans, also.

Picked up my camera today!  Very excited to have it back.  Thanks for the encouragement on the p&s, but I'm just considerably more comfortable with a 35mm.  Honestly, I haven't learned all the functions on the Coolpix yet, either.  I find it a bit strange not having to look through a viewfinder.
