Hi Everyone,

When I created the list for the Celtic Classic photo scavenger hunt, I went online and looked at the different events that were going on during the three days and also my knowledge from previous years.  I chose the photos so that you should be able to photograph them on any of the three days.  I did not have any specific photos in mind.  I just want to clarify that so you are not confused.  A picture of something plaid could be anything from a kilt, tartan, etc.  Someone enjoying a pint of ale could be anyone or even a drawing if it has someone drinking a pint of ale.  The most specific picture I picked was the Border Collies herding, but since you only need 6 out of the 9 that shouldn't be a problem.  I am looking forward to seeing the pictures because I am sure everyone will find something unique to photograph.

See you there,
Rhonda

Wait a sec...I saw bagpipers and kilts, ate Scottish food (haggis and oat cakes, blood pudding) and listen to Scottish music. Does the fact that I was actually in Scotland during the Celtic Fest disqualify me?    ::) Some photos to follow.

Hi Jeff,

That is so cool!  What were you doing in Scotland?  I think as long as your pictures meet the requirements they should count as they are celebrating the Celtic heritage.  What do the rest of you think?

I think Jeff should be able to participate as long as he can meet the scavenger hunt requirements.  Just like Jeff to top us all!!!

Hope you had a blast in Scotland.

I was kidding about entering. Just found it a coincidence that the shoot was Celtic, and I was enjoying it in person in Scotland.

Here are the only ones I took that may have qualified...

1.  Find someone wearing something plaid, and
9.  Find someone enjoying a pint of ale.
Wait a sec, I didn't take this photos...disqualified!!   :o

2.  Find a fiddle, bagpipe, or drum.

Lots of them here..

3.  Find someone eating haggis, scones, shortbread, or another Celtic food item.

No one in the pic, but I was the one who ate it. Beautiful haggis, tats and mashed neeps.

5.  Find some Celtic craft or jewelry

What is a more valuable craft than making a good whiskey. This fellow has the unenviable job of getting inside a vat to clean it.

8.  Find a Highland Dancer.

I actually saw a troupe of Highland Dancers in Pitlochry at a Highland Night. Very talented young people. No pics though.

Jeff,

Those are great pictures.  You never did say why you were in Scotland.  I like the bridge in the background of the first picture.

Rhonda, the bridge is seen in many Scotland brochures. Built in 1895 for the railroad, at the time it was the longest bridge in the world.

We were in Scotland for then days, primarily to attend the wedding of my wife's secretary, who is originally from Scotland. We did a lot of sightseeing...castles, palaces, distilleries, small towns, with some shopping thrown in. A highlight was staying in a castle for two nights.

Now, I remember you did tell us about going over there for the wedding.  You know how the mind is the first thing to go as you get older.  ;D  I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.

Here are some of my pictures:

1.Spongebob wearing plaid

2. drummers

3.Chocolate Chip Scones

4.Throwing Marching Staffs

5.Celtic Craft

5.Celtic Craft- Stained Glass

I added two Celtic Crafts because I liked the stained glass so I took it, but then I saw the cross.

6.border collie herding sheep
I took my pictures from up on the Hill to Hill Bridge because when I tried to get close enough to take pictures I couldn't get through the crowd.  When I blew this picture up, I was surprised to see Brian K. up close taking pictures.  It looks like he had the perfect spot.

7.Henderson Clan Tent

9.Enjoying a pint of ale

Tony and I really enjoyed our visit.  We were glad we went down to check it out.  We missed the rain on Saturday.  It started up right after we left.  :)

You know... I was thinking about going up there, too, but I was working with a 70-200 all day - the 100-400 was in the trunk.  We wanted a decent spot for the caber toss, so we came down at the end of the event before it and started working our way towards the fence as folks left.  We ended up about 10ft to the right of the bleachers on the side of the field with all of the food stands.

Unfortunately, the pack of on-field judges for the caber toss plopped themselves right in front of where we were standing, so the photo ops were few and far between.
