Sandy---We will be expecting World-Class photos of your trip to DC since you couldn't make it to the Club Meeting!!!  Have a good time!!  Great weather for it!!

Ric---My sister Carol Gilmore is joining as a Family and she either mailed in her dues or is bringing them to the Roadside America Shoot on Sunday.  She asked me if you could make up badges for her and my niece for Sunday.  My niece is 10 and that would be a big deal for her!!  Their names on the badges should be:  "Carol Gilmore"  and "Rachel Luce".

Thanks!!  See you all tonight!!

Ric

Ouch.

Now, Now...  be nice to Anthony!   He was a victim of multiple hit and runs last night due to VISTA.   The poor guy probably woke up this morning black and blue from head to toe!   ;D

I hear people at my workplace all complaining about Vista!!!  We use XP on the new computer and my old one still runs Windows 98 without a problem.

All kidding aside - Microsoft is looking to extend the sale of XP and support of past June of this year which was the cutoff point.  They are still getting alot of pressure from corporations and consumers who want XP instead of VISTA.   It's a huge concern for me here at the Credit Union because we have alot of vendors whose programs are not certified for VISTA yet due to unresolved "issues".   I had to drop our old vendor for computers because they wouldn't sell us non-VISTA pcs.   I had to buy a Dell for the branch because Dell is still selling XP Pro on new PCs.

That is a valid point.
But this happens with every new release...remember the NT problems? or going from 95 to 98?

The problems were there, for a much briefer period.   Not going on 18 months after release.  Not to mention NT was a HUGE leap of complete kernel/OS architecture.   All VISTA is is a pretty Aero interface, magnificently annoying security features, a dock bar, calendar, IE 7, and a few other bells and whistles.  Unfortunately - they completely hosed the network performance in the process and many applications run slower in VISTA because it's a resource hog.  They also severely kicked the pooch with gamers by screwing up the release of DX10 - which won't run on XP.

I'll check out what Microsoft thinks about Vista from my son-in-law.  He works there and has been there for about 15 years.  He's a manager of the Media Center group (maybe something new now, though.)  We love when he takes us to the Microsoft employee store for some REALLY good buys on software and some hardware.
