March Location Shoot -- Allentown Fairgrounds Farmer's Market

Looks like it will be Saturday, March 15th at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmer's Market from 12 till 2 or 3 pm (depending on how much fun we are having!!).  According to the email Sandy received, it seems to be okay with the managers there as long as we allow them to veto any photos that would show their facility in a bad light.  So if you take photos of food on the floor or wilted veggies......  I'm sure that won't be a problem and I think they will be thrilled with the varied images we take!  With all of us having a different shooting style/viewpoint I will be disappointed if they don't find at least several images that they would like to keep for advertising, as well as rack up some market sales.  I know I will be doing some shopping before I go home!! The Market management has also asked that we not shoot there on the Saturday before Easter (March 22nd) because they are really crazy busy there and I think that even if you would go alone to shoot, that probably wouldn't be a good day due to crowds jamming the market.

For Newbies-----The Monthly Location Shoot is both a Group get-together on a specific date and time and also the location that you can shoot all month long at a time that is convenient for you, even if you weren't able to join in the Group Shoot that month.  Group Shoots are usually on weekends and we understand that some people can't take away from their family time or they have to work on weekends so we've made it that you can go to the Monthly Shooting Location at anytime during that month and then upload your photos to the LVPC Flickr website along with everyone else's.  Also, the photos must be photos taken at that Location during that month so no photos you took last year!!

The Allentown Fairgrounds Market has been a Lehigh Valley institution for many, many years and we should have no problem finding a wealth of great photo opportunities there.  It looks like it will be a win--win situation for both the photographers and the vendors at the Market.

Also---check these Forums and the Flickr website threads---I think some Members are trying to get a group together to visit the Philadelphia Flower Show this month.

I'll be there, as I already am about twice a month. Let's all wear our badges and make an impression. Oranges, pineapple, healthy fruit mix, and some nice fresh chicken and fish, here I come. Which reminds me, if you are thinking about taking home anything refrigerated, pack a small cooler and ice and/or ice packs. See you there!

IF I don't opt for a couple of slices of pizza at one end of the market, I'm certain to head the the Ritz Barbecue (right next door) after the shoot for either a late lunch or an ice cream sundae. They no longer make their own ice cream, but a visit there is like a step back in time. We used to go there after school or a football game and put money in the juke box. Nothing like sitting in a wooden booth and having a turkey barbecue with sides of baked beans and French fries. And, oh that butter brickle flavor of ice cream.

On weekends there is usually something going on in Agricultural Hall, an exhibition complex on the same property. I wonder what's going on that day.

I am planning to attend, but I did get a phone call last night that I will have guest that weekend! We should decide on a meeting place at the market.

Planning to go. I've not been in the fairgrounds before. I agree we should decide on meeting. You'll probably see me walking about aimlessly in parking lot looking for people I recognize from first meeting. If you do see me just corral me in.

I say we meet right in the middle at the Pickle Jar. There is an entrance straight across from each other and this is the entrance in the middle of the building. Looks like it might be big enough an area to wait for all to show up... Be sure to have your ID Badges on if you have them... If you are going and need a Badge let me know before the end of this weekend and I'll get you one made.
