I finally...
« on: March 30, 2009, 10:07:02 am »
Got tired of waiting for Jeff to put up the treasury funds - so I ordered an E-3 and HLD-4 Grip yesterday.   I've been debating with myself whether I wanted to wait for the E-620, or buy an E-30 or E-3.   In the end, I just decided to buy the camera I could go over Niagara Falls with or if needed, use to drive a nail through a red wood.

I went to Dan's on Saturday to rent the E-3 for May 2nd and 3rd for the race I'm going to. I was probably 85% - 90% certain I was going to go the route of the E-620 as my upgrade due to the smaller/lighter size and would wait for it to be released in May.   But while there I started playing with the E-30 and just really liked it - so I started debating with myself again.  In the process - totally forgot about renting the E-3 for the weekend and left without doing so.   :-[

Then, as all good financiers and economists do - I created a spreadsheet to help with the decisions making process!

In the end, it simply came down to the wife telling me "Just order the E-3.  It's the camera you've wanted since it came out."   So, all the time I spent contemplating the decision went out the window - much like alot of decisions which the wife gets involved in!    ;D

Your wife is brilliant, Scott!!  Congrats on the new camera.  Where did you buy it?  Do you have it in your hands yet?

Isn't it great when your wife is the one to push you into buying camera gear!

It was my wife who finally told me to just stop whining and buy the Canon 300 2.8 last Fall!

I was in your shoes as well.  I decided to go with the E-30.  Someone selling their used (ha ha, how used can a one month old camera be?) on Ebay, saving me $400 convinced me to go that route.  I really like the filters.  However, I have to admit the E-3 has a more professional feel.  Otherwise, I think they are fairly similar.  Good luck with your new camera!!!

Finally, LVPC's treasury can rest easily, as Scott stops begging me to pay for a new E-3 from our funds. I thought it would never end.  ;)

Congratulations Scott! And, the Treasurer thanks you!!!

Scott,  Please let me know ALL about your experience with it.  It's heavy, I know, but.....we all must make sacrifices. ;D

I'm being spoiled and 'teased' this week.   I have a brand new 22" Dell widescreen LCD being delivered tomorrow.  Its e-IPS, not a TN panel, so the color reproduction should be much more consistent for photo editing.   It was an absolute bargain for $200.  It's very hard to find a non-TN panel 22" monitor, yet to find one for $200 with the specifications of Dell's.

Also, I believe the battery grip for the E-3 is being delivered tomorrow - to tease me for the E-3 which I don't think is being delivered until Thursday or Friday.  The UPS tracking hasn't updated with an expected delivery date yet.  But the thing is only coming from Long Island, it shouldn't take that long!  ;)

It doesn't take long at all to receive shipments from Cameta (Amityville, NY).  ;D

I've gotten items the same day that it shows they shipped it....since Allentown is a UPS hub, that happens often.  :-\
