July 2010 Meeting: Winifred Helton-Harmon on “Observations of a Beautiful World”
At our July 15th, 2010 meeting, Winifred Helton Harmon will present a program entitled “Observations of a Beautiful World.” She specializes in close-up nature photography. A local artist, she is an artist-in-residence at Lafayette College. Recent shows of her work have appeared in Newtown, PA, Bethlehem, Phildelphia, Clinton, NJ, Montclair, NJ, and Easton.
July 17th 2010 Shoot: Burnside Plantation Blueberry Festival
Our group shoot for the month of July will be the Burnside Plantation’s 25th Annual Blueberry Festival. The festival will have plenty of live entertainment, great food, and family fun all weekend. Read on for the schedule of events, directions, and admission details.
June 12th, 2010 Group Shoot: Civil War Days
For each of the last two years our June event has been photographing the Lehigh Valley Civil War Days, held at the Whitehall Parkway Recreation Area on South Church Street. Once again we have been invited back and given a spot to put up out tent and hang our banner. However, our purpose there is to photograph the event, not to “sell” the club. As such, we wander around the camp and take shots (photographically speaking, of course) at will. Our tent provide us shade…bringing a folding chair is optional. Read on for more details about times and the events.
May Competition and Election Results
We held our second club competition as well as elections for the 2010-2011 executive board term at our May meeting. Barry Wehrung edged out the competition with his entry, “Moab Lunch”. For the full list of winners, and election results, click on through.

Allentown Photo Walk – Sunday, May 23rd
Jeff Grim has posted (see Events in the forums) the route for this Sunday’s photo walk and shoot. It will cover about two miles in all, and allows for places to spend more time following the group walk. Read on for the details as well as a map to the starting location.
Mounting Workshop for May 2010 Competition
Reps from Dick Blick Art Supplies will be on hand in the Visual Arts room of the Banana factory from 7:00-9:00pm on Tuesday, May 18th to help mount your work for the May Competition. They will have available a packet for purchase with the needed supplies. We do not have the price as of yet but will post on the front page of the website and in Forums as soon as we know.
May 2010 Meeting – a Juried Show!
The May meeting of the club will feature a competition that will take the form of a simulated juried show. It gives you the opportunity for exposure of your work to fellow club members in a friendly, supportive atmosphere, but also one that affords informed commentary on selected images. John Barclay to speak at Feb. 18th, 2010 meeting!
John is a PA based freelance photographer who has a passion for leading workshops and tours throughout the country and around the world. John is a passionate photographer who has had his images used in books, on album covers and in a number of magazines. Most recently John was given the distinction of being one of 15 Excellence Award Winners in the 2009 Annual B&W Magazine Portfolio competition.
The title of his talk will be “Dream – Believe – Create”. Read on for the inspiring story behind the title.
